PAWLET is a thriving historic Vermont village nestled in the Mettawee Valley where the Mettowee River (well-known for it's excellent fly fishing) meets Flower Brook.  In the center of town is a beautiful waterfall that continues to generate some of the electricity for Mach's General Store.

 

 

This special community is comprised of a mixture of deep-rooted farm families, artists, crafts people and an ever growing population of young families.  In September of 1998, the new PreK-6 Mettawee Community School opened to serve children from both Pawlet and Rupert.  With a low teacher/student ratio and the latest in computer technology the school has been recognized as a leader in the field of education in Vermont.

Opportunities for outdoor adventure are myriad: hiking, cross country skiing, mountain biking and fishing can be enjoyed throughout the valley.  There are two restaurants in town:  The Barn Restaurant , an old post and beam barn with massive stone fireplaces and The Pawlet Station a quaint American cuisine restaurant housed in an old rail station.  A number of woodworkers, sculpters, potters and painters have working studios in the village.

Not only does Pawlet have one of the prettiest settings in the fertile Mettawee Valley, but it is also conveniently located-only 15 minutes to Manchester, and 30 minutes to Rutland.  For second home seekers, we're only 4 1/2 hours from New York City, 3 1/2 hours from Boston, and about 30 minutes from Stratton and Bromley.
